Britain, Iran to reopen embassies on Sunday Posted: 22 Aug 2015 04:42 PM PDT Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said he would reopen the UK's embassy in Iran on Sunday, four years on since it was trashed by a mob, as Tehran's ties warm with the West. Iran's embassy in London will reopen at the same time, Hammond said, initially at charge d'affaires level, with a view to installing the two countries' respective ambassadors in the coming months. European officials have been quick to visit Tehran since July 14, when Iran struck a deal with Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, ending a 13-year stand-off over its nuclear programme. |

A Spanish counter-terrorism source said he had lived in Spain for seven years until last year and had travelled to Syria from France. |
Macedonia allows all 1,500 migrants at border to enter from Greece Posted: 22 Aug 2015 02:59 PM PDT More than 1,500 mostly Syrian refugees, trapped in a no-man's land for three days, entered Macedonia from Greece on Saturday, after police allowed them to pass despite earlier trying to hold back the crowd using stun grenades. The dash across the border was the latest dramatic chapter in Europe's migrant crisis, and came as another 3,000 migrants were rescued in waters off Libya -- in one of the largest single-day rescue operations yet in the Mediterranean. Some 104,000 migrants and refugees have landed on Italian shores so far this year, while Greece has seen an influx of around 150,000 people, according to the International Organization for Migration. |

"The PKK has to stop its armed attacks and bombings in the towns and the mountains without ifs or buts," the Dogan news agency quoted Demirtas, 42, as saying in a speech in the western city of Izmir. |
