The Reimann family owns major interests in brands including Krispy Kreme donuts, the Pret a Manger sandwich chain and Clearasil skincare products, and is estimated to be worth as much as €33 billion (£28 billion). It emerged at the weekend that the family business had close ties to the Nazi regime and used slave labour during the Second World War. Albert Reimann Sr and Albert Reimann Jr, the two men who headed the business during the Nazi era, were "avowed Hitler supporters" and "convinced National Socialists", according to details published by Bild am Sonntag newspaper. Albert Reimann Sr donated funds to the SS as early as 1931, two years before Hitler rose to power. "Reimann Sr and Reimann Jr were guilty. Both businessmen have passed away, but they belonged in prison," Peter Harf, the family spokesman and chairman of its JAB Holding Company, told Bild. Mr Harf said the details were not new to the family, which commissioned a historian to research its Nazi-era history three years ago and was horrified by the results "We were speechless," he said. "We were ashamed and white as sheets. You cannot gloss over that. Those crimes are abhorrent." His comments were a rare public statement from a family which usually avoids the limelight and does not give interviews. Mr Harf said Albert Reimann Sr and Albert Reimann Jr had not talked about their Nazi past, and that the family had assumed the full details had emerged in a 1978 report, but younger members began to ask questions after discovering old family documents. Bild submitted its findings to Professor Christopher Kopper of Bielefeld University, a leading expert on German economic history in the Nazi era. "While most company bosses and managers only sided with the Nazis after they seized power, this was already the case with the Reimanns in 1931. | Viking Sky: Passengers airlifted to safety after cruise ship breaks down off Norwegian coast Posted: 23 Mar 2019 11:30 PM PDT  A cruise ship that broke down in rough seas off the Norwegian coast with some 1,300 passengers and crew on board has restarted three of its four engines and will be towed to port, emergency services said Sunday. "Three of the four engines are now working which means the boat can now make way on its own," emergency services spokesman Per Fjeld said. The Viking Sky sent out a mayday signal on Saturday, after it began drifting towards land, prompting a huge evacuation operation in which rescue helicopters evacuated passengers and crew to safety. Among those airlifted were believed to many British tourists. The airlift was continuing in the early morning, Fjeld said. Nearly 338 of the 1,373 onboard were evacuated by helicopter by early Sunday morning. They were flown to a village just north of the town of Molde, on Norway's west coast. According to the latest figures from the rescue services, 17 people had been taken to hospital with injuries. Later, reports emerged that a cargo ship with nine crew members was in trouble nearby, and the local Norwegian rescue service diverted two of the helicopters to that rescue. Two hundred Britons were believed to be among those on board the Viking Sky ship with Norwegian media suggesting the majority of passengers were British and American tourists. Derek and Esther Browne, from Hampshire, said the "whole boat was swaying, it was very rough" before they were airlifted to safety. Mr Browne told BBC Radio 5 Live's Stephen Nolan: "We had a few people on stretchers, several with cuts, two with broken limbs, but fortunately we were alright. We were airlifted onto the helicopter which was quite a frightening experience." He added: "I'd never been in a helicopter before, there were a lot of high winds, hovering overhead and the winchman came down and we were then collected up and so I shut my eyes as we arrived into the helicopter and there were 15 of us for about a 20-minute ride." All of the vital information would be stored in the Wallet app, so it's less of a credit card and more of a physical way to pay through the app. As wonderful as it seems, Twitter users couldn't help but compare it to Magnises, the credit card/social club scam that Fyre Fest grifter Billy McFarland came up with before the disastrous music festival. Like Apple Card, Magnises' appeal was that the card was metal, not just plastic. The software update is a substantial one, but the key addition is Apple News+. Once you've installed the update, you will be able to access the News+ tab in the Apple News app and sign up for the $9.99/month subscription service, which includes access to over 300 magazines as well as newspapers. The first month is free, so you can try it right now. But that's just one part of a this iOS release. In addition to Apple News+, iOS 12.2 includes new Siri functionality, four new Animoji (owl, boar, giraffe and shark), support for the second-generation AirPods, and a variety of improvements and new features for AirPlay, Apple Pay, Screen Time, Safari, and Apple Music. Within an hour of touching down in Havana on Sunday night, the royal couple's first official engagement was to lay a wreath at the monument to José Martí, Cuba's national figurehead who became a symbol of the country's bid for independence against Spain in the nineteenth century. They landed in a British government RAF Voyager after spending the morning in Barbados, where they attended a service at St Michael's Cathedral in Bridgetown. After being greeted at Havana's International Airport - also named after José Martí - by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rogelio Sierra Diaz, Charles and Camilla were taken to the eponymous memorial. Although he died in battle against the Spanish, leading a reckless cavalry charge at the battle of Dos Ríos in 1895, Martí was a poet and essayist as well as revolutionary thinker and political theorist. As the couple stood there they were overlooked by the images of two heroes of the Cuban revolution behind them. Curator Eva Maria Diaz told him about the writer's life, and the history of Havana, which prompted Charles to point out that Britain had once occupied the city during the eighteenth century - "briefly". As they left he told her: "I've learnt a great deal about José Martí." Saying that he would like to spend more time in Cuba, he joked: "You might get fed up with us very quickly."
