Oversight board needed for Nassau County jail: NY judge Posted: 04 Apr 2013 02:33 PM PDT By Jessica Dye NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York judge has ordered suburban Nassau County to appoint an independent panel to oversee its jail, following decades of complaints about conditions at the facility. In a ruling released on Wednesday, Acting Supreme Court Justice James McCormack gave County Executive Edward Mangano 90 days to make nominations to fill all seven seats on the Nassau County Correctional Board of Visitors, which was created in 1990 to monitor the jail. Conditions at the Nassau County Correctional Center have prompted frequent complaints for several decades, McCormack wrote. ... |

OPEC happy with level of oil output ceiling Posted: 04 Apr 2013 06:26 AM PDT PARIS (Reuters) - OPEC is happy with the producer group's official oil output ceiling of 30 million barrels per day, its secretary general Abdullah al-Badri said on Thursday, ahead of an OPEC meeting next month to set output policy. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries is scheduled to meet on May 31 in Vienna to review its output policy for the second half of the year. Badri also said the 12-member group would not address the issue of a production allocation for Iraq until 2014. Iraq has for many years been exempt from OPEC output agreements. |
