Police arrest teenager over London train attack, hunt for other potential suspects Posted: 16 Sep 2017 01:57 PM PDT British police arrested an 18-year-old man in the ferry departure area of the port of Dover on Saturday on suspicion of being involved in the bombing of a London Underground train and were looking for more potential suspects on the loose. The man, who has not been named, was arrested on suspicion of committing, preparing or instigating an act of terrorism after Friday's attack in which 30 people were injured at Parsons Green station. "We're keeping an open mind around whether more than one person is responsible for the attack," Neil Basu of London's Metropolitan Police told reporters. |

British police arrest London bomb suspect at Dover border point Posted: 16 Sep 2017 12:35 PM PDT By Kate Holton LONDON (Reuters) - Police arrested an 18-year-old man in the departure lounge of the port of Dover on Saturday in what they said was a "very significant" step in the hunt for whoever planted a bomb on a London commuter train that injured 30 people a day earlier. Prime Minister Theresa May put Britain on the highest security level of "critical" late on Friday, meaning another attack may be imminent, and deployed soldiers and armed police to strategic locations such as nuclear power plants. On Saturday morning officers in Dover, a ferry port on the southeast coast from which passenger ships sail to France, arrested a man and then partially evacuated the area, recovering a number of items, the police said without elaborating. |

Harvard revokes Chelsea Manning fellowship invitation after criticism Posted: 15 Sep 2017 08:22 AM PDT Harvard University revoked convicted US intelligence leaker and transgender activist Chelsea Manning's visiting fellowship position on Friday after sharp criticism from the Central Intelligence Agency. Dean Douglas Elmendorf of the prestigious Harvard Kennedy School of Government said naming Manning as one of 12 new visiting fellows "was a mistake," after CIA Director Mike Pompeo accused the university of honoring a "traitor" and cancelled a speaking appearance on Thursday. Pompeo's move followed former CIA acting director Mike Morrell's announcement that he was stepping down as a senior fellow at The Belfer Center, part of the Kennedy School, for the same reason. |

Irma, which ranked as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record before striking the U.S. mainland as a Category 4 hurricane on Sept. 10, killed at least 84 people. Florida Power & Light, owned by NextEra Energy Inc and the state's biggest electric company, said it was working aggressively to restore power to the 23 percent of its customers still in the dark. |

"The best weapon against any enemy is love and prayer," Uzhunnalil said at a press conference in Rome after an intervention by the authorities in Oman to secure his release. Muscat said Tuesday that it had "coordinated with Yemeni parties" to mediate the release of Uzhunnalil, a Salesian priest who had last appeared in a video circulated online in December 2016, in which he appealed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pope Francis to secure his release. |

How to Protect Your Credit in the Wake of the Equifax Breach Posted: 15 Sep 2017 10:19 AM PDT For anyone who takes protecting their credit score and identity seriously, the news was probably like getting a punch in the gut. As you've no doubt heard, Equifax, one of the nation's largest credit bureaus, was hacked -- it is believed that 143 million American consumers' personal information was exposed to online criminals. During that time, hackers were able to collect people's names, Social Security numbers, birthdates, addresses and even, for some people, driver's license numbers. |
U.S. judge will not dismiss accused Mexican drug lord El Chapo's indictment Posted: 15 Sep 2017 04:31 PM PDT By Jonathan Stempel NEW YORK (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Friday rejected an effort by Joaquin Guzman, the accused Mexican drug lord known as "El Chapo," to dismiss a massive international narcotics conspiracy indictment on the ground he was extradited improperly to Brooklyn. While not challenging the merits of the case, Guzman's lawyers claimed that the indictment violated the extradition treaty between the United States and Mexico because Mexican authorities initially agreed to extradite their client only to southern California or western Texas. |
