The Army’s New $30 Billion Humvee Replacement Could Spark a Fight in Congress Posted: 26 Aug 2015 09:45 AM PDT In awarding an initial $6.7 billion to the Wisconsin-based company to build Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) for it and the Marine Corps, the Army passed over bids from defense giant Lockheed Martin and AM General, the truck maker that produces the iconic Humvee. Merkel, jeered on visit to refugees, says no to xenophobia Posted: 26 Aug 2015 06:46 AM PDT By Hans-Edzard Busemann HEIDENAU, Germany (Reuters) - Dozens of protesters heckled Chancellor Angela Merkel and waved placards that read "traitor" on Wednesday when she visited an eastern German town where anti-refugee protests erupted into violence at the weekend. Merkel vowed that Germany would not tolerate xenophobia and repeated that the weekend scuffles, in which 31 police officers were hurt, were "shameful and repulsive". "There is no tolerance for those people who question the dignity of others, no tolerance for those who are not willing to help where legal and human help is required," Merkel told reporters and local people in the town of Heidenau. |

8 Tips for Surviving the Stock Market's Record Drop Posted: 26 Aug 2015 06:00 AM PDT Yes, it's entirely plausible that when Shanghai sneezes, Wall Street catches a cold. Wall Street's historic plunge -- in which the Dow Jones industrial average plummeted 1,000 points Monday before "bouncing back" to a 588-point loss -- appeared to subside Tuesday, as the Dow and Standard & Poor's 500 index jumped 3.4 percent Tuesday morning. Call it an interest rate chill pill, as the People's Bank of China cut interest rates for the fifth time in nine months, while investors held out hope that the Federal Reserve might hit the brakes on an interest rate hike. |

TRUMP'S APPEAL IS REMINISCENT OF CASTRO Posted: 25 Aug 2015 05:30 PM PDT Donald Trump has some of these same characteristics, which could be a source of great consequence to our nation. What most arrested my attention was the way he used the same small, but effective, gestures as Fidel. |
