Islamic State using birth control to keep supply of sex slaves: NY Times Posted: 12 Mar 2016 02:53 PM PST The Islamic State is using several forms of contraception to maintain its supply of sex slaves, the New York Times reported on Saturday, citing interviews with more than three dozen Yazidi women who escaped from the militant group. The New York Times reported that Islamic State used "oral and injectable contraception, and sometimes both" to ensure that the women did not become pregnant and could be passed among the fighters. Islamic State militants consider the Yazidis to be devil-worshippers. |

U.S., allies conduct 17 strikes against Islamic State: U.S. military Posted: 12 Mar 2016 11:47 AM PST The United States and its allies on Friday targeted Islamic State militants in Iraq with nine strikes and eight in Syria, the U.S. military said on Saturday. Five of the strikes in Iraq were near Ramadi, hitting three separate Islamic State tactical units and an Islamic State fighting position. In Syria, four of the strikes were near Mar'a, hitting 10 Islamic State fighting positions and two weapons caches. |

Turkish air strikes kill 67 Kurdish militants in north Iraq: army Posted: 12 Mar 2016 03:46 AM PST Turkey's army said on Saturday it killed 67 Kurdish militants in air strikes on camps and ammunition storage sites in neighboring northern Iraq on Wednesday. Jets targeted sites at Qandil, Metina, Avasin, Haftanin and Basyan used by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, the armed forces said. Separately, a bomb blast blamed on PKK militants hit an armored police vehicle near Turkey's border with Iraq on Friday, Turkish officials said. |
