"If there is any provocation against South Korea and its people, there should be a strong response in initial combat without any political considerations," South Korean President Park Geun-hye told the defense minister and senior officials at a meeting on Monday. ... |

North Korea: Where the Neocons Are Right Posted: 01 Apr 2013 09:23 AM PDT Like a number of commentators, I've been fairly caustic lately about how much the neoconservatives got wrong about Iraq and the "war on terror." Readers Write: The tyranny of America's pro-gun majority; Do guns make us safer? Posted: 01 Apr 2013 07:12 AM PDT The Feb. 18 cover story, "My gun," says that in 2008, America became a "majority pro-gun country" in which 44 percent of US households "stash firearms" and 8 million – many of them women – carry concealed weapons. We should step back from the gun-control debate to consider the "tyranny of the majority" from Alexis de Tocqueville's "Democracy in America." While the majority rules, there is the inescapable fact that every law is not always right and doesn't always equal morality. |
A man with one name is playing with shadow puppets on an Indonesian volcano Posted: 01 Apr 2013 06:50 AM PDT I've returned to Indonesia after a decade away.
