He is the son of Will Smith and his first wife Sheree Zampino. His stepmother is Jada Pinkett Smith, mother of half-siblings Jaden Smith and Willow Smith.

Trey was the inspiration for Smith's song "Just the Two of Us" and also the star of the video. He has served as Access Hollywood's special correspondent for events such as Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards . He had a guest role in the TV series All of Us. Smith also appeared in several promotional events for Jaden's first film: The Pursuit of Happyness.

As of July 2008, he attends Oaks Christian High School, and plays for their junior varsity football team; the quarterback, for the varsity team, is Joe Montana's son, Nicholas. Also, Wayne Gretzky's son Trevor Gretzky is quaterback for Oaks Christian High School. [1]
